painted my hood, grill and front bumper this weekend. it was my first time doing any bodywork like that. it definately could be better, but i think it could be worse as well. it sure beats the white hood and primer bumper i had going.

my main concerns:
1) i have what look like tiger stripes on my hood, noticeable if you look at the right angle. i guess the paint wasnt applied evenly there, but i tried adding more to those spots with no change in appearance.
2)even though its not wetsanded and buffed yet, it seems darker than the rest of the car, almost like my current clearcoat is yellow and its making the paint appear fainter(?)

use a little more psi when you are spraying, also go a little lighter on the coats, such as the hood so the tiger stripes wont show up, when you wetsand and buff do the whole car, it'll become a little more even in color after that

thanks for the replies
ill try to mess with the psi and fan pattern more before i paint next. if im not mistaken the recommendations that came with the paint said 5-10 psi at the gun. my regulator is hooked up right at the base of the gun and it was around 5 psi.

you painted it the wrong direction it looks like you went side to side instead of front to back. and color sanding is not going to change the color it might brighting the clear up but it won't change the color
why is everyone so critical over painted grills? There are tons of factory cars with painted grills including a few hondas. i dont see the big deal

i did go side to side, starting at the front and working my way to the back of the hood. i was unaware you should go the other way

just wondering why does it matter if u go side to side as opposed from down to up (or whatever). My brother paints cars and goes side to side and everytime it comes out great..
Also the paint he buys to paint cars on the can it says 45-50 psi. (I can take pics if requested of the can to show ya

I paint with out a regulator on my gun... you just gotta adjust the amount of paint to air ratio... doesnt really matter what psi its at... the tiger stripes are from unevenly layed paint... shoot 50/50 "half and half" over lapping.. then it comes out better... when its wet it looks striped but when u lay the clear it blends it together and you wont see stripes..
