Default will a 92 hydro clutch work with my 89 dx cable tranny?

i swapped long blocks and would like to use the fresher clutch on the 92 block with my 89 cable tranny as opposed to the beat stock clutch dat came with the 89 dx...will it work ?

i searched and most only covered DA clutches...not much info about EF compalibilty

because it didnt occur to me untill now and i was trying to get the car up and running ASAP as it is my daily driver.

now i will have to pull the tranny and slap in the original stock clutch, but i dont have the alignment tool....can these be purchased at any autoparts store?

it should work. 88 trannys have 21 splines and 92 trannys have 20 splines so 89 should be 20 splines im 99% sure

if the spline count doesnt match then the tranny wouldnt fit onto the block correct?

it seemed to have slipped on with no resistance, the car runs, and i can shift thru gears with no problem. i havent taken it for a test drive yet tho. mayb that will actually tell me if it truly worked?

88 trannys are 21 spline, 190mm clutch, 89 are 20 spline 200mm clutch, 90-00 are 20 spline and 220(212 maybe) mm clutch

the only difference i would think betwen Cable and Hydrolic, is the actuall height of the center section of the clutch disk, i know bseries wont engage if you use the wrong one, so just to be shure measure the 2 and compare

Dont trip itll work...89+ D-series trannies are all 20 spline. Just make sure you used the 92 flywheel along with the clutch.
