Default Tachometer help

So today I picked up this CRX, go check it out, here's the link

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1664607

I try not to break the rules, so that's why I made that thread of the car pics in the appearance section, and made my tech question here. I noticed that while driving the car's RPM needle will start bouncing around pretty bad above 3k RPMs, do you know if it's fixable, and if so how? It made for good entertainment lol, hitting redline in a split second, but still, not cool. Any help?

I searched and found this thread
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1620519
You think this could be my problem too? I wont have a chance to check it, so I'm trying to build ideas so that I can try more than one when I get the chance

I opened up the distributor, and took a look at that thing, by the way, the distributor seems to have been replaced recently, looks very new, anyway that ignitor was all hooked up and everything, so I dont think that's the problem, any other possibilities?

Just because it's all hooked up doesn't mean it's still good. The ignitor is actually going bad and needs replacing!

also you wanna take a look at the fact that it appears to have an aftermarket cruise control on it. if the cruise is tapped into this wire any where that may be causing some issues.

It could also be an engine ground problem.

Yeah, I thought about that as a possibility, but like I said, everything on it looked new, like it was recently replaced, so I decided to out that option, but it is possible it was defective then? I guess it wont hurt to replace it

Yeah, that cruise control looked off, so it's aftermarket then? I didnt know that I'll search the lines and see if I spot anything, thx!

Also, how many grounds to engines have?

Some places can test it. Just remove it from the distributor and take it to a local NAPA. Not sure if other chain stores can test or not but NAPA does. No need to replace if that's not really your issue.
