doi...sorry completely slipped my mind that this forum might have a search function. I'm a member of TwinTurbo.net (used to own a 300ZX) and people always rip on the new guys who don't search.....don't know what came over me =P Thanks.

you can run a synthetic blend. Dont know if i would run a full synthetic oil in there since its so thin and your seals may be worn out and will leak the oil.

owners manual says to run 5w30 synthetic. You can run 10w30 for high mileage to help reduce oil consumption and help your seals from leaking since its a thicker oil.

i run Mobil1 extended performance 5w30, but my motor only has 45k on it.

I would say unless you are going to track the car and see high oil temps conventional 5w-30 or 10w-30 would be fine. Also it should take around 5qts. Also, since you have a H22a it is normal for you to burn a qt or more between changes. Check your oil often

my 2.3 used to leak a bit...and I ran 10W30 high mileage for about a year and a half. Miraculously I have not yet had any leaks since then. I started using some synthetic blend but it wasn't really worth the cost, imo, for an h23a1. So i stick with regular mobil1 10w30 standard oil, no leaks, no oil burnoff.

now I know that everyone has thier opinions and there are a million different oil companys out there, but with those kind of miles youre best bet might even be a 20w50 oil. I switched over to royal purple 20w50 from mobil 1 5w30 and my car stopped burning oil and leaking oil.

That's cuz your car is boosted...put that on an NA h22a and you be crawling...

Edit: going from 5w30 to even 10w30 and you can already feel the different...

I started using the royal purple before the turbo kit and the car stopped burning oil and leaking it. when our cars have high miles and it is burning oil it is recommended that you use a heavier weight.
and like i stated before everyone has thier own opinions i was just giving my 02 cents

Under most engine operating conditions, a 10W-30 will not be any thicker than a 5W-30... oils with dual viscosity ratings adapt to temperature settings

you're not feeling any difference. they're the same viscosity when the engine is warm.

that's what the "30" in Xw30 means. The only difference is that the 10 is thicker when the engine is cold.

10w30 is typically only thicker at start-up, which makes no sense to use it. If you look at the spec sheet for SuperSyn 5w30 v. 10w30, the 5w30 actually has a marginally higher viscosity well past 100*C, and has a higher flashpoint point as well. Relative viscosities don't matter as much these days with modern additive packages in synthetic oils.

That's because the oil is so friggin thick. This it too thick for your engine. There's no reason to go past a 30wt (40wt max). You're losing effciency, making your engine pump that thick of an oil, not to mention loss in oil pressure.

...you realize it's not going to flow that well right? Look up the oil specs for any oem turbocharged vehicle, you're not going to find anything heavier than 5w30.
