Squeaking at idle? Belts?
Argh.. this has been a consistent problem.. more like a major annoyance for me for the past few months. At idle, and as I increase the RPM, a high pitched squeal emits from the drivebelt area under the hood. I've checked it out, and it is almost certainly coming from the crank pulley. What can I do to fix this? Like I said, it doesn't seem to be coming from any of the accessories, but from the crank pulley itself. Thanks.
i got the same squeak too but its coming from my alternator belt.
if i spray lithium silicone grease on it. it goes away for a few days but it comes back.
could this be that i need to tighten my belt tensioner?

Mine is just starting to do this as well, anyone have tips?
Also, is their any sort of wear indicator on your timing belt? Or do shops put a sticker somewhere under the hood when they replace the belt saying the mileage?

i am yet another person with this prob.. i am going to try and check the deflection on the belts and let you guys know if that does it. i also tried some belt dressing, but that just got that side of the engine bay dirty and greasy as hell
From what I understand when you have a squealing noise coming from one of your belts most of the time it is loose. I would first check the alternator belt since that is the culprit most of the time.

I have a kind of squeeking noise when my engine is cold, I think the alternator bearings may be going out... either that or the belt is too tight I think.
