Default Car Died Slowly -- Fuel Pump?

Here's what happened, maybe you guys can point me in the right direction. Over a couple of months the problems progressed like this:

- car started and drove normally, was hard to warm start
- warm starting got worse until it wouldn't start at all until it cooled off
- car began hesitating and losing power after warming up
- finally limped home sputtering and won't start at all

Does this sound like a failing fuel pump? Or should I check something else first?

So you drive the car for a while than you turn it off, and it wont turn back on until you let the car cool down for about 15 min?

if so its's your Main Relay

I would also put my money on that relay. I hated it when it went out in my Sedan.

Ok, I removed the relay and resoldered the connections according to this site http://techauto.tripod.com/mainrelay.htm Now when it turns over I can smell gas, which I couldn't before so I assume the pump is now working. However, it still won't start and when I turn the key off there are 4 rapid beeps that keep repeating. Any ideas?

ya get a new relay. you have shorted a few of the joints inside that thing.

and check for blown fuses. if u shorted the relay u may have popped a fuse or two.

Please, somebody slap me upside the head. The beeping was because I had the frickin door open. I checked the ecu and there are no error codes, cranked a bit more and it fired but won't quite start. I'm hoping it's just a combination of flooding and old gas (it's been sitting since Xmas).

I finally got it running, but it ran like crap and died on the way to work . . . right in front of a tuneup place I pushed it into the parking lot and left it with them. The remaining problems are due to the car being branded as a DX on the hatch, but it's actually an Si. Whoever had the car before me thought it was a DX and had the wrong plugs and rotor in it. I don't know jack about ignition stuff so I was happy to let someone else do it.

The main relay was definitely nonfunctional though, so fixing that myself saved a few $$.

its going to cost alot at the dealer, you can get it at a junk yard for about 15-20 bucks.
