Default Separating door panels on 89 CRX

I want to paint the top and bottom portions of my interior door panels. That gray color just isn't doing it for me. I've got the interior piece out of the door, but i can't figure out how to separate them. Anyone have any tips?

It won't look retarded. There are tons of cars (S2000, Saturn Sky, Civic Type R) that have colored interiors. There is no reason why the CRX won't look good colored.

It's not like I'm painting it clown colors.

Its a EF bitch , it's not a Saturn , not a S2K , and sure as hell not a CTR !
I've seen way to many people try what your going to do and they all say it will look "so sweet" and you know what , they all look like *** !!!
Please have some respect for the Honda God's and sell your car and buy a Saturn , then you can fu<k up the doors and we wont give a **** !
It's a win , win situation.

You're right, it's not a sky, s2k, or a CTR. But these are all very different cars, and they all look good with colored interiors, so there is no reason why the CRX can't look good with a painted interior.

One thing you are forgetting is that the interiors I listed were designed by professional designers from the factory, and any CRX you see with painted interiors are done by kids.

I never said is was going to look "so sweet, yo!!". I'm trying to achieve more of a higher end race car appeal with the interior.

Maybe you guys just need to see to believe.

Really? Most of the race cars I have seen have no door panels. In fact all they have is seat, steering wheel, roll cage and dash. You guys must have some really heavy race cars up there.

I would like to see a pic of this before I say yes, your an idiot or that isn't bad but not my taste.

I said "higher" end, meaning higher than the CRX, as in an S2k or an ITR. Not an F1 car or track only car.

This board is a farce! Holy smokes. I can't even post one damn thing without people jumping at me telling me why I really am a flaming idiot.

Who cares. There will always be ricers. Let ricers be ricers. They'll grow up eventually. I used to waste my time with that too, parading around all proud b/c I drive a CRX and I'm not a rice boy. But after a few years you stop caring.

I wasn't jumping your stuff I was just saying. When I see/hear race car I think a true race car, ITA, GT1, HC, F1, Grand Am with no interior or hacked up interior. If you were not refering to a true race car and more of a show car then I'm not real sure what to say. All the ITR's and S2K that I see at our events have no interiors either.

I was at least receptive to your idea saying I want to see a photochop or something.

Towards the bootm where it says "Modifying the door panels"

that should answer most of your questions.

Umm , the pic you posted was redone in fabric , not paint.
I have had a friend who had fu<ked up door panels redo them in dark tweed and it tuned out pretty damn good but I personally do not support taking a rattle can to anything inside your car.
But it's your world dude , paint the bitch.

just another forwarning, paint is gonna stick for about 3 months, and then its all gonna come chipping off, then your gonna have half blue half grey door panels and its gonna look like ***...so if your gonna do this abomination, do it right and revinyl the doors

MUCH easier to just drill out the plastic rivets between the sections of the door panel than to use a Dremel as he suggested. I separated mine because my rollbar hit the bottom of the doorpanel.

I'd have to agree about using fabric/vinyl instead of paint. A painted interior will only look good for a couple of months before cracking/fading/etc. Do it right the first time, if at all.

Resistance is futile.

You will conform.

You will make the modifications we have made or you will be flamed.

Our opinion is the only one that matters.

Install a front lip and a rear wing and await further instructions from the site.

I like the pic you posted and I intend to do something similar with fabric on my door panels too.

The paint will peal off in 3 months if you don't prep the panels first.

Check that colorbondtuner site I posted.
They sell an interior paint that creates a molecular bond with the vinyl surface. Its impossible to chip

Yes, that green civic is hella ugly. I don't plan on doing anything like that. Actually, can you post more pics of your interior so I can see what NOT to do?

n/m I didn't realize it was a slide show.

The problem with that car is there is too much blue. It's too overdone so it looks retarded.

Also your vents and cluster cover are a light gray color, they should be black.
That blue is too light aswell. Something darker and more saturated would be nice.

That grandma green is also messing the whole car up, inside and out. Paint it something nice and the interior will get a tad better (honestly)
