Default The easiest way to install a body-kit?

I have a 1997 Honda Accord LX, and I'd like to know what steps I need to take if I want to install a body-kit on the car myself.

Thanks

you'll save yourself a lot of time and money in the end if you get a lip kit. aftermarket front and rear bumpers usually require a lot of time time, money and patience to install.

Amen to that the only bodykit I ever bought ( r33 skyline for a civic ) was completely destroyed in a hit and run accident.
Polyurethane bodykits are ok but NEVER EVER trust anything fiberglass. it will break if you look at it the wrong way or a stray gust of wind hits it.

well the quickest way for me to do it was to get the WingsWest W-TYP lip kit and mount it with screws then get black rubber screw head covers to cover the screws and it came out perfect. took about 3 hours. better if you have someone there to help you hold the kit in place so its prefectly even, not lop-sided. you can check out what i did to my 97 accord lx in my profile. that whole kit i did by myself. then had it painted at the body shop. it was worth it. but its much better if the kit you get is made out of "Polyurethane" trust me.

I think he dislikes the look of the car and it's large wing/bodykit.

Usually when you buy a part, they will send you directions on how to install it. So don't really worry about it too much unless you buy some p.o.s. off of Ebay. But most of it is pretty basic bolting on.

Body kits should be put on by a professional and they should never go on the car if they are not painted. It is not cool to ride around like that.

My friend who works at a bodyshop absolutely refuses to touch any ebay-sourced body kit. They almost always have fitment issues. If you're going to get a bodykit, get a polyurethane kit from C-West, etc. It sounds like a lip kit would be right up the OP's alley as he wants to install it himself.

so that gives him the right to make fun of my car? i only posted to show that it not that hard to put a lip-kit with taking it to the body shop. if i wanted people to laugh at my hard work and time i put into my car then i would start a thread askin people to laugh at my car. how about showing a fellow accord owner some respect.

I'm not trying to troll up the Accord forum, so I will keep it brief and respectful without trying to flame you. The lip kit, hood and tails all looks good on that car. But having a GT-style wing and a "vtec power" sticker on an AUTOMATIC accord is not going to get you a lot of respect.

Clean car except for the wing and vtec sticker tho. I will give you that much.

This forum is a great place with lots of knowledgeable people on it who are more then willing to help you.

People here just don't like to see others bastardise the honda tradition by means of installing ungodly 10 foot high wings and putting on wide mouth body kits and altezzasazzasszasaas.. its not cool and like said above will not earn you respect and just get you mocked.. rice was so 1999 and even then it sucked.

If you are a proper human being people here will respect your stuff and be glad to lend a hand.. but if your an embarssament people will not repect you and just laugh at your wood and not give a damn.

LOL keep on Tuning you are seriously the king of tuners.. tune that wood till she burns!

I see you havent been here long Tech-Nics. Well i have, and i have read fourms upon fourms, upon fourms and the only things that honda-tech people dont make fun of is, lowered cars with rims, with exhaust and lip kits.. anything else they will call it rice and hate it (no this isnt a flame, its just fact). However some poeple do go to extreme like they are wanna be fast and furious and post on here and say "rate my ride" well they just asked to be flammed.

Its just how honda-tech people roll

As to install your body kit it will take alot of time.. here a rough ideal about what you lookin at. take your front bumper, grill and ...Then place the bumper on your car for the middle use some Stainless stell self tappin screws screw it down to the Bumper support.. The corner part of the kit that hoockes up to your fender drill the kit after you line it up to the fit with the less gaps on both sides...you will need a friends help. Then let it sit in the sun on hot day for a couple of hours for it to expand to your car.. then drive it unpainted for a couple of days Then if still fits with no gaps get it painted

hey shutupnskate, you admitted having the r33 skyline bodykit on your civic, which i might point out is 10 times gayer than what tech-nics is rocking. so dont act like youre so high and mighty

what im trying to say is...who cares what a members car looks like. who cares if its automatic or 5sp. it shouldn't matter. what matters is that we are all Accord owners and helping each other out and just meeting other accord owners and learning from each others...
i think the v-tec sticker on my car is ridiculous too cause its a LX not a EX. i cant take it off cause it will rip off the paint on the trunk. what again why does that matter???? i know someone out there atleast agrees with me somewhat.
