ok well i have a Hole from some rust in my rear fender, you guys know where

So what i did was cut a big square out of the fender where the rust was, and then i traced some cardboard, around the square i cut out, and i traced it onto a piece of 22 gauge sheet metal, i cut it out

Now should i just weld it in place or what?

There seems to be a contour where the hole is, how can i go about fixing the sheetmetal so it matches the rest of the fender

Or should i just weld the piece in then form the metal that way.. then bondo it?

Im not Looking For perfection, i just dont want it to be a huge rust hole there anymore..

 

um since no one replyed i will try and lend some advice.

You want to weld the new metal in but make sure to tac one side then go to the other

side as not to get the metal too hot as it will warp you probally know this already

though.

Proper shops use a tool called a break i think.. it helps them form the metal.. but since

your not after perfection tacing it in sould be fine.. you can probally get by using a body

work hammer then once the metal is formed good enough spead the bondo thin and l

long around the contour of the curve.. use a large wood block with sand paper and

sand it down to ensure its smooth. Then make sure to use a zinc based primer so it

doesnt rust again.

you can find pre-formed patch panels for 90-93 accord sedans... and if you need it for a coupe, you can cut it off along the thin edge and the rest will be useful...
