Default Running a DPFI manifold and dizzy a 88-95 D16.

Alright I was going back and forth with this guy on carolina hondas. He wanted a better motor than his Dx motor. For some reason he kept saying he didn't have to convert to MPFI to use any 88-95 d16 motor and I told him he was getting the wrong info. Well when you read his last post it makes lots of sense. He thinks he can run any 88-95 d16 with out converting to MPFI and would only have to use the DPFI manifold and dizzy. He also made a statement that he didn't think Vtec would work too well with DPFI. He discussed with alot of people about how it would work.

I would like your guys opinion on this matter.

he can, most of the power comes from the intake mani on SOHC's, he'll just be wasting his money putting the motor into the car without the mpfi swap.

You can stick any old 88-00 d series under the dpfi, as long as it bolts up.

I'm not sure about the zc though.

If it bolts up, the tiny manifold on a dx wouldn't deliver any air to combust. So it may be a bigger motor but with less air coming in the horsepower is reduced tremendously. Right?

The DX manifold isn't all that small. The air flow is much less of an issue than the shitty shitty DPFI throttle body mounted injectors. Shitty shitty. DPFI to MPFI has been dynoed for like 15hp and 8tq or something like that.

And you should keep in mind that as long as you run a DPFI you need a pm5, so you can't run a z6 or something like that properly.

Indeed, there's no reason unless you're in a pinch for a new engine.
