Default EGR question combined with jdm p13

Im alittle confused. I swapped in a JDM H22a into my car and put in a JDM P13. Im a lil confused, is the JDM p13 suppose to be able to read the EGR signal. Ive been getting a code 12. SO basically im trying to see if the JDM would read like a USDM p13 and not give me a CEL if the EGR solenoid was fine. At this point i dont know what part of the EGR is broken if it is broken at all. A little ienlightening would help. Thanks GUys.

wierd.....hmmmm...hmmmm did you make sure you dont have the vacume lines connected wrong?? I did this in my swap(H22 into CD5) I ended up not connecting the EGR because when I did my car ran..?funny?..I don't throw any CEL If it's an ECU issue just find a P28 or P72 ECU and use that your car is an OBD1 so it'll plug right in...you'll want to change your ECU later anyway for tuning abilitys which to my clear understanding you cannot do wiht the p13 GL ill scrape my brain more and see if I think of anything....but check the lines from the Intake maniflod and such you might of got them mixed up good luck

OBDI can only read that it is plugged in, not that it has flow.

Make sure it is wired correctly first of all.
US/JDM p13 are completely pin compatable.

THe egr light comes on after driving at a cruising speed. do you think thats the solenoid? im not a 100% sure but the solenoid is on the passenger side next to the power steering fluid container right? I cleaned the Valve with parts cleaner and made sure that it moved freely, but i still get the egr code. Could it be an issue with the Manifold? Any ways to test? Would the electrical connection running from the solenoid be the same color and strip all the way to the ecu? to me that seems to be the only way to check the electricla side of things?
