Hey everyone! I drive a '99 Honda Accord Coupe V6 w/ approximately 150k miles (yeah i know, i drive a lot haha). Recently, i've been having LOTS of car trouble. Was wondering if any of you could share a similar experience or know what exactly is causing my problems. here goes:

1) About once a week or two, I'm cruising down the highway and all of a sudden, the engine shuts down and the digital odometer and lights all turn off. However, the radio still stays. I have to hit the emergency lights and find my way to pull over and restart the car. here's where the next problem comes in...

2) Whether i just pulled over or i'm starting the car after hitting the gym or something, almost 90% of the time, the car won't start. I turn the key, all the lights come on, radio comes on, and i hear the engine start to roar up but as soon as i let the key slide back, the engine shuts off. I tried holding the key forward longer and tapping the pedal to rev the engine btu as soon as the key slides back, it all dies. I have to try probably 4 or 5 times before the car starts up...

Anybody have any suggestions or ideas as to whats happening? I want to take it into a dealership but first at least have a good idea of what to expect or else they'll just slap me with a bill for every single thing they can come up with. Thanks in advance for you help!

 

Sounds like the ignition switch to me. There may have been a recall on that year. Check it out. It's a safety issue.
