From everything I have read, The CTR never came with the 4.78 final drive. Atleast according to Best motoring.

 

i agree, i have read a lot and i think only the jdm itr trannies 97+ had the 4.78 finals drive.
i got a jdm b16a with the 4.78 final drive and lsd for 1100 (picked it up)
so id say about 1200 for your tranny or put it out for 1250 so you can off that 50 and negotiate

Just get your hands on a B16 tranny - gearing is as short as the Type R transmission. Pop a Quaife in there and you're good to go

 

WOW....I'll look into this jdm b16a in replacement of jdm ITR trannys! I heard these jdm ITR are scarce! Hope the b16's are not

1300 for JDM Type R w/LSD...that's how much its worth...All i gotta say..my gas mileage has gotten from good...to crap...because of it...but hey i can accelerate fairly quickly

hey leimokei, just the guys i wanted to talk to. i remember you said you found a Type R tranny and installed it. So bad is your mileage now? whats your rpm at when your cruising 80 and 60mph? was it worth the swap?

 

Well, I got my ITR tranny brand new from an Acura dealer for $1050 with a clutch brand new! Of course I work there though!

anyway heres some info, i gotr my hands on a jdm b16a tranny with lsd and 4.78 final drive.
this is basically the same thing as an itr but with a better final drive.
the difference is BIG! my rpm's at 80 mph are about 4400-4500. something like that and at 60 theyr 3200-3300. but the difference is awesome, the car pulls so much better than before!
as far as my gas mileage, its about the same, maybe a little worse but then again i never had great gas mileage to begin with.
i would recommend a b16a tranny (w/ lsd) to anyone and everyone who wants to stay NA.
