are the bushings driving me crazy?
a while back i bought and installed the Energy Suspension Shifter Stabalizer Bushings and a B&M Edge SS. After like 3 weeks it started to rattle from around 3500rpm to like around 4700rpm. Took off some heat shields but it didn't stop. Then i read that the ss causes the rattle and there isn't much i could do about it. So recently i took it off and sold it because the rattling drove me insane! I put the stock shifter in (which by the way i like much better now) and it still rattles. I thought maybe it was the heat shield above the cat but i'm starting to think maybe its the bushings that i installed. i can't see the heat shield being a problem after like only 2 years. Has anyone else heard of these bushings causing a rattling noise. If this isn't it i don't know what then, but the noise is both embarrasing and extremely annoying!
Well, my car is a little more than 2 years old, but I had a similar problem and it was the top heat shield over the cat. When your car is cool just reach underneath and see if your heat shield is loose. By the time I took mine off I could move it around like 2 inches in any direction. Yours probably isn't that loose but maybe you can tell if it's loose enough to vibrate at all.

usually it is the shifter touching the catback or the resonator in the catback that causes the rattle, not just the bushings alone.
