Default HELP!!! EX brake/axle questions!! Lost_in_a_salvage_yard_with _no_clue <-- me!

Original problem...
I have an 89 HF with b16a/sk-7 intermediate shaft I need a hub that will accept a 90-93 DA integra axle. EX brake setup was mentioned but I am confused to **** as to what i am looking for.

(1:15 PM 6/15/2006) Tyson: just look for mpfi ef sedans. those are the EX.

I just saw like 5 of these at the salvage yard? even if it doesnt say EX on the trunk its an EX? there was like 5 or 6 accord lx-i's and DX/LX civcs all with complete brake setups and in working order. I dont know WTF I am looking at, I dont have any help on this and its wearing thin. Part #'s anyone? that would be a world of help.

you can use hubs from any 88-91 civic/crx si,ex,dx,lx..they will all work and except the b-series axles.....another option is 90-93 integra....just gotta stay away from the 88-91 std and hf..

All those 90-91 ex sedans you saw at the junkyard,,they had the D16a6 engine in them? the ex badge might be missing simply cause its a yard and people just take stuff..

my axels were rebuilt with a smaller outer cv than inner, the integra axel fit in my halfshaft but not my hub. the hub assy. looks to have been changed out, which makes me wonder what hubs i have.

is a rebuilt axel with smaller outer than inner just going to keep breaking or should i change out hubs?

what is a b-series axel?
integra?
civic?
del sol?

are the HF hubs the only ones that only accept smaller splines?

b-series axles are from any car that has a b-series motor,,though the 90-93 integra half shaft is different then the 94-01 integra,99-00civicsi,and delsol vtec halfshaft ..

crx hf and civic std are the ones with small hubs....

because a 1.8L integra has a lot more power going to axels hence the bigger axels/brakes.

a 1.5L crx doesn't need beefy anything. hence the HF. lol

It would be almost a miracle if you found an unmolested EX sedan in a junkyard

Miracles happen. 2 weeks ago I scored a set of EX spindles for CRXToad.

BTW OP, when you upgrade to the larger brakes. You will also want to upgrade the master cylinder, or the brakes will feel spongy. 89 Prelude SI MC, or 90-91 EX Civic bolt right on. The other route you can go is using integra stuff, but you will have to use the booster also, and the lines might not line up. Good luck man, need anything else just ask.

Thanks for all your help brakes are installed, but i need to get the rotors turned and new pads. they not only "feel spongy" but they leech when i brake. I have to go through them to see what the problem is.

I don't know what you mean by leech, but it's cool you got the car running now.

The brake pedal goes thump thump down to the floor when i brake. There was a lot of rust on the rotors and that could have been it. I only took it up and down the block like twice. Thats why i need to get rotors turned and new pads, to figure out what the problem is.

Any suggestions, ideas?
