K20z1 into 2000 ITR
This post will be updated with current up to date, what works for a k20z1 into a dc2 chassis.
Chassis: 2000 Integra Type R
So Far the Setup is:
2005 K20z1 long block (out of 2005 rsx type s)
2005 K20z1 tranny
2005 K20z1 Shifter Box/Cables
Karcepts Shifter Box
R-crew Header (Should work with Hybrid Racing Or HA-Sport Mounts)
2004 K20a2 ECU - KPRO
2004 K20a2 Engine Harness
TWM ITBS 52mm (have to cut skelton under hood for fuel rail to clear)
2002-2004 k20a2 Primary Oxygen Sensor
RSX base Axles
Mounts:
Ha-Sport EGK1 Mounts (allow use of stock axles for ITRs)
Engine Harness:
A 2004 k20a2 Engine Harness & Hybrid Racing change over harness
Karcepts Shifter Box:
With the 2005 shifter cables, the little bronze pieces must be cut off.

then follow the directions to install. http://www.karcepts.com/index_...s.pdf
TWMS ITBS:
Water pump must be modifided. Must run a 3 step pulley system. Aem alternator pulley + 50" belt.
Speed sensor:
Few theories going to try.
Bigcalidaves speed box or cut 2005 plug off, and use hondata kpro to offset the voltage.

Oh really? Spline is 32mm? I assumed all K-series axles were the same.

Do you mind if I ask how you came to pick the K20Z1 instead of the K20A(*) or K20A2 motors?

I went with the k20z1 because of the price. I purchased mine for 3200 shipped, and was able to sell $1000 worth or parts i couldnt use.
Comparing the k20z1 to k20a
K20a has LSD
K20a has 11.5 compression compared to 11.0
Comparing k20z1 vs k20a2
Different tranny (05+ are beefer)
k20z1 has 4.7 final drive vs 4.3
k20z1 has type r cams
Overall, K20a are better then k20z1 and k20a2. But they do cost more.
$4500-6k for a k20a
$2500-3800 for a k20z1 (people are scared of them due to the speed sensor issue)
$2500-4500 for k20a2
My k20z1 only had 8k miles on it.

I haven't really blown through alot of cash. I have sold my turbo setup, which paid the car off and also paided for the k-series swap.

Jordo forgive my ignorance, but I have two questions that I need answered.
1. Why is it, that with all the custom motor mount kits (hasport, etc) people say that once you go K series in a DC2 there's no going back to B?
2. What exactly is the speed sensor issue on Z1's, and how can it be corrected?
Cuz, I'm really starting to get the itch to build a K series EG or EK hatch.
TIA

Take a close look at the mount kit on Hasports website, or just look very closely at the passenger side upper engine mount (in a B series car, the trans mount) in Jordo's picture.

1. you have to physically cut out passenger side mount from the bseries.
2. The speed sensor issue. It uses a 05+ type signal for the speed sensor. The 02-04 ecu does not work with the 05+ speed sensor. Its a magnetic sensor rather then a gear that turns.

looking really good Jordo, glad to see you made this post as i will be doing the K20A very very shortly into 0082

have you started the car up yet?
and those baseline axles actually fit in the Integra hubs with no problems length/and diameter?

Yes, the rsx base axles bolt right in.
I havent start it yet, i still need to do a ton of stuff.

Wire up the motor
Install fuel injectors, make fuel lines
Install axles
Install header
Install RSX throttle cable
Clean up engine bay, relocate battery, fuse box.

so do you just swap out the sensor for a 02-04?
and where did you buy the swap? if you dont mind me asking.

No the sensors are totally different.
This is a 02-04 speed sensor, much like bseries

this is a 05+, it magnetic
What I am going to try to do is, cut the speed sensor plug off the 05 engine harness, and splice it into the 02-04 harness. This might work because they are both 3 wire, and they are the same frequency ranges. Hopefully this will allow the option in kpro to offset the voltage.

Thank you very much. Great info. Please keep us posted as to how this works out.
