Spotting The illusive 3 stage D15B?
Greetings!
I in the search of that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with operating something wierd am looking for information on identifying the 3 stage D15B. I'm looking to get one as a swap for my 87 CRX SI in the relentless search for economy and some power. I've got a local importer who is being quite cooperative and friendly and I would like to know what distinguiishing features to look for with respect to thier lot of D15Bs. I'm a honda newbie, but I have a reasonable understanding on how VTEC works and would like to know how I could identify the double actuators that should be on the 3 stage D15B. Thanks for your help,
Sloan Lindsey

I searched for "stage vtec" in the archives. There are a few other posts if you feel the need to read more.
Also if you google "3 stage vtec" you will find some artcles.

D15B 3stage VTEC was OBD2 only, the ECU is going to be fun to make work.
If you're staying OBD0 then you're going to need to rig something up and tune it accordingly.
Going OBD1 you can use Crome and a P72 to get it working. After some serious tuning of course.

So i guess this marks me as a total neophyte, but what is the big difference between OBD1 and OBD2? I was planning on getting the stock ECU with the motor so what are the changes involved to make it work. Are there going to be new wires required through the firewall are there little sub computers that are going to be required? Please fill me into the level of insanity that I'm attempting. here are the things that I can guess might be required:
4 wire O2
secondary O2
knock sensor
VTEC actuators
some sort of transmission sensor
spark and FI
then i might need to convert the speedo and tach and various gauges.
I can run wire and make/ adapt connectors if I can find a wiring diagram so what am I looking at?
did the motor mounts change? let me know
thanks
