Default LS/VTEC Build

what would you guys suggest? do an LS swap or just go all motor with a B18. I have the b18A block and any thoughts on where to go performance wise?

What are you talking about? 4 Cylinder and All motor don't go well together? That is the most ignorant thing I have read today. All motor + 4 cyl =300hp+

If you are going to keep the LS complete then boost it.

If you want to go all motor with and LS it can be done. In fact that was the original plan that I had until I ran across a B16 head. If I were you, and this is what I did, build the B18A/B bottom end for all motor and then find a VTEC head to put on there. You can get and easy 200whp with cams, intake, exhaust and have good reliability. You can do all motor either way. Don't listen to pgmatt.

The turbo route is nice because you get a really nice useable power band for on the street. All motor 4 ctl can def be fast but a boosted LS is so easy and cheap.I thought I would try to rile up some all motor guys but it didnt seam to work. I imagine with a little head work and some cams etc the LS might turn out some decent numbers all motor but I guess then you would have spent more then a vtec head cost these days.

sure...with a 2.7L bored stroked K series, 17:1 CR, ITBs, and a whole lot of stuff that cant be bought.....

piecing together an lsvtec can be so cheap. ls shortblocks go for 150. you just have to put pistons in it from a VTEC motor i.e. p30s, so the valvepockets will be in the right place. with ls pistons you cant run a cam larger than a CTR safely and youll only have about 10ish:1CR

basically, for 2K, with a little knowledge of the search button you can build a 200hp daily driven ls v. if you just wanna go the shortbut route and slap a vtec head on an ls block with some CTR cams what youll have is a 160horse motor thatll give you 10k miles of headaches before the rod bolts and/or bearings say "peace"

thanks for the help man. the thing is i have the b18 block just sitting in the garage its been bored over, and thats about it i have the new pistons and rods, but i dont want to have trouble down the road. any advice as far as cams and gears. ive seen the full-race civics dyno sheet and it was home hot ****. the only problem if i boost it is there a turbo kit out there for the CRX? ive looked all over.
