Default vtec not engaging bogs out like i'm hitting the barkes

hey i just need to know what possible problems could be causing my h22 swap to bog out like i am hitting the brakes when i hit vtec at 5500rpm. I had a check engine light come on but it was fuel system and that was the fuel regulatour and then i ran it for the day and it still wouldn't go to vtec and now the enginge light is on again, what could be my problem, oil pressure, egr, nock sensour, stock exhuast. please help me

Check all your vaccuum lines and oil level / pressure. Other possibility sounds like egr needs a good cleaning

kay so i have changed the egr out with my h23 egr and cleaned it out, plus the ceilanoid and tested it, checked the fuel regulatour and still nothing, vtec still won't kick on, but now i'm getting cel for code43 and not sure what to check on it

could be the vtec pressue switch or vtec solenoid. did you do a swap? are you sure vtec is wired correctly? if so, are the wires connected?

solenoid is fine, yes its a swap, and i don't know if the wiring was done right, would anyone have an actuall picture of the wiring done either directly to the ecu or the wireharness

Sounds like it could be the wiring, double check the wiring if it's correct.

Try a junkyard, bring a knife or pliers, slice off a connector end from any Honda ECU plug.

well i tried the pressure switch it is in perfect shape, i checked the oil pressure and it builds up enough to shot out across the room, i also took the cat off and ran it, still no vtec, but now it feels like a rev limiter kicking on, is it possible that with the switch of the h22 engine and the h23 ecu that it messed up the ecu and made a limiter come on. because before i did the swap i was able to get up past 6500rpms with out any problems its just with the h22 in there.

well thats the thing my mech that did the swap says that he wired it and did it to the specs on the ulitimate h22 swap guide. but now i'm not to sure. is it possible that the h23 ecu sense's the oil pressure build up and kicks on a limiter to keep it from getting to high

well your in limp mode for one...just outta the blue does your spedominter work????? you only need 3 wires for vtec....ground, oil pressure, voltage......shouldn't be that hard to mess up???? are you using the P13 ecu??

uhmm, if your throwing code 43 that would be the idle air control valve if my memory serves me correctly, and yes that would put your car in limp mode which disables vtec fattens up the fuel and retards the timing.

get your iacv fixed that should solve your problem

dang man that is some of the most useful info i have gotten yet. well just to say my ecu I think is a P14 does that tell anyone of you anything. yup the spedo works, everything seems to work fine, the cel only comes on when i have the car running at 3300rpms and seems to come on only when i'm in fifth gear on the freeway.

P13 is the H22 ECU......try connecting a P72 or a P28 ecu and see if vtec works then

kay so then why are some people saying that it shouldn't matter what ecu it is you can wire them up and it would work, anyhow i will go and pick up a h22 ecu tomorrow and then let you all know what happens of course i will need to fix the idle air control valve.

but i will let everyone know
