Default coolant temp sensor

Hey does anyone know if the coolant temp sensor would have anything to do with
my no start problem?

I got a 91 civic hatch and swap in a d16z6. the coolant temp sensors are different.
the 91 motor has two butt connectors and the 94 motor has a plain and simple connector.

I cut the butt connectors off and tapped the wires to the 94 connector.

it might cause a no start if its the sensor for the ecu, albeit if its for the guage it will cause no problems.
