Default Help! Car sounds like its s/c but it isnt!

Ok so heres what happened. I was on the highway today and had to come to a near sudden stop because of a accident. While driving by the accident I look at my instrument cluster and its all lit up. The Brake light, Battery light, and door indicators were all on. Im like WTF! So I pull over to turn my car off then back on. It doesnt do anything. I pull fuse 13 and let it sit for awhile, nothing again. I start to panic so I drive home and when Im almost home all the lights just go off all of a sudden.

I dont know what it is. I called my buddy and he said the alternator is probably gone so im like im not amazed. POS HONDA. I start to think its the alternator and assuming its no big deal.

Now the problem that arises is that my car is whining like its supercharged. Its coming from the belts somehwere but I cant zero in on it. Damn exhaust really throws it off. Could is still possibly be the alternator? All the lights are off btw but its just whining like hell right now.

I have a 98 V6.

That's the classic symptoms of an alternator gone kaput -- all the lights on the dash on, supercharger-like whine... You can have some check the alternator if you want to be completely sure.

That's what you get when you put a Delphi alternator on a Honda...

Nice! Your grammar is right on too!

I'll see what my local autozone can do.

Excellent - This has just happened to my car too this weekend. I started the car and the battery, E-brake, and door lights were all on. I knew my battery was good because its brand new - so then when I started driving it and pushed on the gas - the lights went off. Now I also get that whinning S/C like sound. Wierd - must be a common problem with the accord. So did you get the alternator checked out?

my car does this too.. its because i tensioned the timing belt a little too tight.. but to be honest as rice as it is I secretly enjoy it.. it only does it when the motor is underload in first gear though.. I may loosen the tension but it feels more responsive and its noticeably better pick up.

lol
