B16 CRX odd battery and idle issues.
Hi fellas. One of my buddies brought his little brother's B16A CRX over to my place for a bit of a diagnositc. The presenting problem is that the car will never start on its own power - it needs a battery jump every single time - and once it starts, it you stay out of the throttle for more than about 3 seconds, she dies.
I put a multimeter on the battery both before, during and after my test drive and found this to be the case: When the car is off, the battery is continually losing voltage. Literally, the multimeter will read .01 less power across the POS/NEG terminals every couple of seconds. Even when attached to the battery jumper pack, it will continue to drain, though it begins closer to 14 than the 6 it will hold when on its own.
Now, after the car stalls, the battery is immediately down to 7 or 6.xx and falling hard enough that you can't start it again. I allowed it to stall itself and immediately attempted to crank it on its own (sans battery jumper) and she didn't even so much as click.
There are no codes being thrown and nothing was done to this vehicle in recent memory. No plugs have been switched around, no grounds came loose, no new products were installed, no bad gas was pumped, etc.
I come here because I don't want to waste my time - and his money - running tests that might be avoided with some expert advice
Thanks fellas

Just found out from the owner that the battery and the alternator are both brand new.

You obviously didn't read a goddamn word I posted did you? The battery is being actively drained, dumbass: if I put the charger on it, it drains both the battery and the charger, dumbass. If I put a new battery under the hood, it'll drain that too, dumbass.
Goddamn. Maybe I should have asked what color to paint my cladding instead...possibly would have received some help that way

r u checking for current or voltage when the car is off? check current consumption and if it is draining, leave ur meter on and start unplugging fuses until it stops draining ur battery. ur car off should only be consuming less than 500mA, if i'm correct. anyway, see which fuse (when pulled) regulates the current and figure out what is connected to that circuit. whatever is draining your battery, should be within that circuit.
also, batteries do not charge up to its max capacity after being drained. it gets weaker everytime the battery is drained. so even if it is a new battery, it may quickly turn old after dying about five or so times. hope this helps.
