can't get transmission apart..
So after pulling my transmisison off (which was a real pain) I can't get the bell housing off of it. all the bolts are off and it seems like something is binding together inside the tranny. I was laking ooil and I didn't know it, and one thing leading to another, I was stuck in 4th with the shifter in neutral position, and coudl only go to 5th.. I couldn't go into any other gear.. fun. so anyways, I can pull the bell housing off about 2 inches before it sticks.. any ideas? I see decent chunks of metal around the tranny so I'm thinking when whatever happened inside, pieces of gears probably got jammed... so.. any ideas what coudl be holding this thing together? when I get it apart, i'm having it looked at to see if I shoudl get a "new used" m2B4 transmission for $600 or if I can get this one repaired. this one is an m2b4 as well..
Honestly....seperating the tranny form the block is a BITCH! i had to use a pry bar and some flathead screwdrivers. I thought it would never come off...just keep trying
I haven't taken one apart myself, but I read once that there's a bolt you have to take out having to do with reverse. It's some bolt that holds some component for the reverse gear. Figure out if that makes sense.

Did you spread the clip on the bearing to the counter shaft? There is a port on the back of the tranny that you open to get at the clip. Please post up some pictures of what happened. I'm using an m2b4 also. If the tranny turns out to be messed up, but the 5th gear is ok, I would like to buy the 5th gear set from you. Good luck, and the helm manual should be a good guide to teardown.

try removing the tranny mount...and you are probably forgetting to loosen one of the bolts near the rear engine mount. You shouldn't have to pry it off at all, it's not like they put some type of sealant to begin with. The tranny is just being held by bolts.
you need to get the clip ring off the main shaft bearing. Look for the big round cap on the very top of the tranny that a socket driver can fit into (square pit). This cap will come off then you need to remove the clip ring from the groove on the bearing. Look in your service manual, it's all in there.
yeah more thank likely what is holding you up is the clip ring on the main bearing. the bell housing and the case is sealed with hondabond. so it takes some prying. just becareful, i have creaked cases doing that stuff.
Shutta-
The clip at the top of shaft is the first thing that will hold you up, Youll see it if you take off the plugs in the end of the case.
Make sure the bolt for reverse is out.
Pull the shifter mechanism out as well as the ***** and springs that hold the shifter forks in place.
If you do all that then it should pull right off and the shifter forks will stay with the gears.
I've got an M2F4 right here all torn apart if you need any pics (shouldnt be much diff)

haven't had time, I've been running around like a madman lately.. My dad knows a good transmission guy who said he'd look at it for me so i'm probably not going to bother..
