Does anyone know the size of the exhaust manifold for the JDM type R engine compared the LS? I did a JDM type R swap last year into my LS but i never upgraded the exhaust system. Because the manifold was larger than the stock LS, a flange had to be made to connect it to the stock LS exhaust system. To my knowledge, I heard that I shouldn't buy a Exhaust system made for a type r for my LS because the piping probably won't fit. PLease help. Thanks!

You know what's annoying?? Trying to google search a topic and coming up with posts like this with no answers because someone else was told to google search the same thing 7 years ago.....

 

long story short for you guys is you need to replace the cat with a jdm itr cat and then run a real cat back. greddy evo or some such thing. you could also use a jdm itr cat back.

trying to rig up to the stock exhaust will just create a bottle neck

you can, if you want use the ITR manifold with the ITR downpipe, ITR cat and USDM base model cat back. i remember it bolting right up on a 97 gsr. not sure if there were any changes in 00-01
