Do new rotors require new pads?
(self discovery - "I'm not a wrench"
)
I picked up a new set of front rotors (old ones were warped w/ slight cracking) and I have a new set of Hawk Blues on the way.
The old pads, however still have a lot of meat on them (about 75%)
Question: Do I need to change the pads at the same time or can I use the old pads?
Also, should I consider changing the rear rotors/pads at the same time? (There's no signs of wear/damage)

2 B 4G010 - Yikes! That's about $125.00 of pad material left. How come they wouldn't work with the new rotors?
John - What kind of potential problems might I have if I run them on new rotors? Any input?
Warren, Willard, Cobra et al. ?

I use old pads on new rotors and new pads on old rotors - per the advice of Scott Zellner at King Motorsports. Most everybody I know does the same thing.
Scott, who reminds you to bed new pads in before you need to count on them for a full race....or you will wind up with no brakes.....and this goes for Blues too....

You can use old pads on new rotors or vice versa. The prob is -> if the pad is scored or has uneven wear, your new rotor will be affected.
..on who you ask. When I spoke w/ Porterfield about breaking in the r4s', they told me to bed/break-in the pads on old rotors! Then other people suggest changing/resurfacing the rotors when changing pads. So, I installed the new pads on old rotors, no problems so far.
Hope that helps.
