Automatic Shifter gets stuck sometimes!
Okay,
I'm trying to fix my fiances Accord, it's a '98 EX 4cyl. To shift the gear selector you have to put in the brake. However, sometimes putting in the brake won't disengage the lock/safety on the gear selector. I have to pump the brake in and out until the safety decides to release. Every now and then I hear a "squish" or "hiss", while pumping the brake, like the master brake cylinder is acting up. But, there are no problems with the brakes and once the car is in gear there are no symptoms from the master brake cylinder.
Anyone know what I should troubleshoot here?

Make sure that the contact point between the pedal & the mounted sensor to let your saftey lock disengage is not distorted by anything & is connected properly. The "squishy" noise you hear when the car is off & your pumping the brake is normal.
I'll check the pedal assembly tonight. Any idea where I could find a picture of the sensor I should be looking for?
