JDM H22A... Compatible with ATTS or no?
Okay, right now I'm looking to get a JDM Type-S H22A because I blew the motor on my 2000 SH. I'm looking to keep the ATTS but was looking for the best value. Seeing as the SH motor is so exepensive, I figured I'd just step up to the Type-S motor. What I wanna know is.
Are ALL JDM H22A Type-S motors compatible with ATTS or only a perticular few that were designed to accomodate the ATTS? You know, much like the USDM H22A4s which have two different versions, one for base model and one for Type-S.

Type S is a straight drop in to the SH.

The Type-S is an ATTS-only engine.
However, many JDM importers market the SiR S-spec engine as a "Type-S". It's the same Type-S stuff on the inside of the engine with the regular base block casting, which most people want anyway.
Make sure to specify you want ATTS to avoid a mixup.

Actually, from what I've heard, the Type-S actually has an LSD and that the ATTS needs an LSD to work. I heard what they did was use the Type-S motor, sold it as a Prelude with LSD, but had an option to upgrade by adding ATTS on the car, which I guess is why we see so many Type-S motors sold in the US, but no ATTS units. ::
:: What I've heard people doing was dropping the Type-S motor into their base model prelude to use the LSD. Then again, this is just what I've HEARD so... But anyways, thanks for the comformation.

Everything you heard is completely wrong

yea, thats incorrect. the SiR has the LSD, the Type-S has the ATTS tranny.. if that were correct then the SH here in america would be more popular. Also tranny swaps would be easy on the SH.
