Soon to be in the market...
for a "nice" car. Ill have 10-11k to spend, and im stuck between a civic, an accord, and a prelude.
prelude- little more insurance, more fun to drive, little to no backseat
accord- more refined, nice interior, decent room, not quite as fun to drive
civic- cheapest ins/gas, decent interior, kinda boring to drive (torqueless wonder)
so with that in mind... IF i can get one with ~30-40k miles on it, i would definately go for the accord/prelude. I want either to have ABS, because its just good to have when you really need it, incase someone else is driving your car and panics in a slide.
Could i find a 99-01 prelude with 30-40k miles for 10-11k? Or am i more in accord territory?
Also... anyone else 17-19 with a prelude, hows the insurance compared to an accord?
Thanks guys

Will i be able to find a prelude under 50k miles for 10-11k?? It seems like that will be quite a task... i see 40-60k ones here goin for like 13-14k and that is discouraging, but thats usually at a dealer.
Buy one from a private seller. I wouldnt buy a used car from dealership solely because they prolly got the car for 8k and then they try and sell it for 11k.
Find an old lady that is selling one and pick it up. Make sure its a manual tranny.

Would it be too picky to have a color in mind? Would that make it just way to hard to find?
I really want a white one, 5 speed, under 50k miles if possible
is that likely?

just look around for the one you want. http://www.autotrader.com, http://www.cars.com. Check out your local newspaper as well. Sometimes there are really good deals in the local classifieds.

Yeah, it would be hard, but 100k is not that bad for a Honda. I wouldn't worry about milage unless it's over 200k.
There's always going to be some little things you need to fix with a used car, but that's why you have Honda-tech.

go with what you like best. If you are into modifying/building a car. A 4th gen might be of better use for you since they are relatively cheap. You can get the lowest model lude and swap an H in there and be a happy customer who didnt spend much money to get a little enjoyment.

4th/5th gens are so similar mechanically that you can pretty much pick the one you like the looks of best and it won't be a big difference (obviously depends on the engine, but you get the point).

yeah i would suggest doing the personal seller thing just solely because when i was lookin at 5th gen ludes from the dealer they were asking like 12k for one with 75,000 miles on it then i go and looked at a few private and found my baby with only 60,000 miles on it for 7k. but like i tell everyone else lookin for used cars USE CARFAX and make sure it hasn't been in any major accidents, passed emissions, and if it hasn't gotten all the recalls done that if you do buy that one your lookin at take it in right away to get the problem fixed for free!
You wouldn't regret getting a Prelude. I had always wanted one when I started driving a long time ago. I always wanted a '91 Lude. When I heard that the '01 was going to be the last model, I got one. It is a satin silver metallic 5-spd base. I haven't done anything to it. Been best little car I've ever had. Check out http://74.131.175.151/prelude/preludeforsale.htm
