Default Where to get 1156 light sockets?!?!?

I'm looking to swap out the 7440 light sockets in my gf's tail lights for 1156 because they have more of an assortment of aftermarket bulbs and it's usually easier to find a replacement for 1156 then 7440. But for the life of my I just can't find where to get them short of a junkyard which in my area is not available. Thoughts?

You should be able to pick them up at any parts store. I know we sold them at Partsource when I was managing that store, and that was just 3 months ago. Not sure what auto parts stores you guys have, maybe like autozone or something like that?

Yea, I tried autozone but they don't look right, they're huge for some reason. I'm gonna try car quest or napa online.

You can get them from the dealer too. That way you have a better chance of it fitting. Even though it should.
But your bulbs are very easily found too. Any parts store should have them and your dealer always will. I'm pretty sure Sylvania makes them

GE makes them. We carried 7440 also at the store I worked at.

Yes, the stores do have them but I'm using these sockets for the rear turn signal. Bacsically I wanted to get the Sylvania orange bulbs that were blue coated but they don't make a 7440 version.

What bulb are you talkin about? I'm talking about the amber bulbs that look blue but the problem is that they only make them for 1156 not 7440, most stores only carry 7440 clears.

Oh ok I got ya now i must have missed that part. I can see your dillema then.
The only problem I can forsee with changing the socket then will be the new socket mating to the old fixture (the mounting tabs).
And I really don't think your result is going to prove the trouble worth while.
What kind of car is this for and what kind of tail lights does it have?

96 Ex coupe with TYC Jag Style lights. I think I'm just gonna order a set of ambers from autolumination.com and do the Bimmer trick where you spray a VERY light coat of silver or blue paint over the bulb to get rid of the egg yoke effect. Either that or get Amber LED bulbs.
