Default PSPEC Short Shifter for 5th gen Prelude Question

The PSPEC kit comes with the shifter, shift boot, and shift ****. But they do have an option where you can just purchase the shifter alone.

My question is can you use the OEM shift boot and shift **** for their shifter instead? Or do you have to use PSPEC's shift boot and ****?

I am planning to just buy their shifter alone which is $200 + $20 shipping.

Thank in advance.

The whole kit is $200 + $20 Shipping dude..

It's $160 + $20 for just the shifter..
I'd say buy it all for the $40 more.. But that's me..

I know you should be able to use the Stock Shift **** I think.. I know the kit uses the stock Honda thread..

The shift boot though is custom just for the PSpec Shifter, so I dout the stock boot will work..

Again, I'd still say buy the **** & Boot, it'll look soooo much better than the Stock **** & Boot..

I bought the whole kit used from someone else, but I kept my stock boot since it's the red stiched one

Wait a little bit, the Forbidden Motorsports short-shifter should be in production fairly soon.

He's sold several hundred 4th gen shifters. Every customer review I've read on here has raved about the quality of the product and shifter feel.

I know. I been waiting and I am running our of patience. I need a SS right now. And even if 4bidden comes out with one, I will have to wait a few months to see how the reviews go. Thanks though.

If you say it's better than OEM then I will go ahead and buy the whole kit. I just wanted everything to be genuine honda.

I bought a PSPEC awhile back and am completely happy with it (moreso than the Lean SS I had previously and the adapter before that - yeah I've used them all ). Buying the shifter only is definitely an option and its the one I went with to maintain a completely stock look.

As far as the 4Bidden one goes: kickass 4th gen shifter - tried it and liked it a lot.

But I don't have a single complaint about the PSPEC - top notch quality, couldn't get much better IMO. Also there's no way to physically make the throw any shorter without modifying the whole center console so the 4bidden 5th gen shifter won't be any shorter in throw.

I also know that the subject of a 4Bidden 5th gen shifter comes up every time someone else tries to make an SS - it happened with Lean 2 years ago and with PSPEC a little over a year ago. The topic also comes up whenever one of those two products was on backorder or in shortage. I have no reason to believe it will be released anytime soon. If you have no problem waiting 6 months, 1 year, or more, by all means wait for the 4Bidden. No doubt it will be top quality.

That being said, if the PSPEC production is temporarily on hold (I've heard it might be), none of this really matters anyways There's no SS worth buying at the moment.

^^ That sucks.. I haven't gotten mine yet.. :S I wanted one really bad too... I've been thinking about getting one since.. Dang over a year easy.. Just haven't had any reason with no motor to use it with.. lol

I understand wanting to keep the stock look, but I'd like a different Shift **** than the stock, and no point in not buying the boot too, when it's still Leather, and better the fake/cheaper stuff OEM from Honda..

Either way, PSpec & 4Bidden are both quality products.. They take a long time to produce and start production, but they make sure their stuff is top notch..

The first prototype should be in my hands and in a 5gen here soon for testing. I don't feed you guys BS and I still come here multiple times a day to see whats going on even though I no longer own a Prelude

I've got an even better feeling about this shifter than I did the 4gen. This 5gen shifter is going to be BEEFY. Not only will it be adjustable like my 4gen, but it will be extremely smooth due to the large increase in weight. Anyone here that uses a Skunk2 heavy **** or the Greddy heavy **** can tell you how much better shifting feels with a heavy ****.

If you haven't already, go to my website http://www.forbiddenmotorsports.com and sign up for the email list for the 5gen shifter!
