Default First Fit on Deals Gap (Tail of the Dragon)

[img]img]

If the image doesn't work, my apologies; follow this link: http://community.webshots.com/...cMmxh

Last week a friend and I went up to TN and had the luxury of driving through some sweet mountain passes. If you haven't heard of Deals Gap, google it.

11 miles, 318 turns, no ingress/egress. That's right, I said 318 turns.

I must say, any more power than what we had wouldn't have done us any good. The Fit's performance was fantastic. At one point, we even ended up pushing some motards (of course, they weren't going nearly as fast as they could).

The stock handling and acceleration (surprising, I know) was quite perfect for those tight turns.

To all you Fit drivers, Deals Gap gets four thunbs up from us.

Apparently the Fit has crazy cornering skills, despite its budget rear suspension. I'm not really surprised though...it is a Honda.

Anyone seen that video of the Japanese fellow talking about how the rigidity of the bottom of the Fit lends to the inevitability of it becoming a racer?

If I come across the video, I'll post it. The Japanese guy was one of the designers or Honda execs, not sure.

I believe the video you are talking about is the one talking about the Spoon Fit and, that guy you are speaking of is the CEO of Spoon.

there are roads in CA that compare to Tail of the Dragon, you just have to know where to look.

I've driven that road in a Mini Cooper S. Lots of fun. I would love to ride that road on my trek road bike.

I have been there 2 times in the last year. Once in my s2k and once in a friends s2k and it was by far the most fun I have ever had on a public road. it is definitly worth the drive just to drive that road. Just make sure you stay in your lane while driving it.

Not to rain on your parade, but I'm pretty sure I saw pics of a white Sport there a couple of months ago...

People have died at Deal's Gap, too. You go off cliffs...or right into the mountain side.

Fun road but too far from me, like 8 hours away. I will probably never get to take my Focus there.
