Default whats the procees? plug or sniff?

how are emissions done? i've been told they plug into your computer and i've been told they just hook up at your exhaust and use the sniffer

i've never had emissions

i've got a 99SI.........throwing code because my cat is gone

if i put the cat back, screw in my sensor that is zip tied under the car, clear the code at Advanced Auto...............will I be set? i've got stock exhaust, kami 4-1 header and password jdm intake........sounds good to pass to me?

Emmisions are regulated differently throughout the states.

Throw on the cat and clear the code. Drive it around for while to make sure the code doesn't come back. Take it to inspection. Just use your stock exhaust it will benefit you, when it comes to the inspector judging your car. They seem to look harder on modded
exhaust cars.

ob2 inspections are done through the connector under the dash while the car is running the computer does the rest..obd1 and earlier are done on the dyno with a machine that is hooked to your exhaust

Yeah, what he said only here in TN they don't put our cars on a dyno. They just stick the sniffer in the tail pipe on pre 96 vehicles

I'm pretty sure the cops use the sniffer b/c it's pretty portable (err that might be the decibal tester), but I'm pretty sure it varies from garage to garage, b/c I've seen ones at a garage called D&R by me and they don't have a sniffer, they hook it up to the computer..but like when u either rebuild salvage or build ur own car up and have to get it salvage build title and they assign it a vin # and such I've seen 'em use sniffers there....so I tink it varies :-\

dont clear the code until you get a cat..once you put the cat in then clear the code drive around for at least a week so the code is not in the ecu memory and then youll pass
