First I'd like to express my sincere thanks to all the event organizers for putting together another fantastic Expo. Thanks to you the ITR expo remains the highlight in my calendar. I'd also like to thank everyone for the exceptional hospitality towards me and the Canadian crew. You guys always make the trip enjoyable and worth the effort.
I met and chatted with so many of the Honda-Tech family this year and look forward to hooking up again next year at Expo 7 regardless of where it is held.
I haven't gone through all my pics yet but decided to post some shots from day one. These were taken by Ray using my camera so I can't take credit for the pics. Carl and I had a major blast driving pretty much neck and neck for two complete sessions.
While I didn't take many pictures this year I will post some others shortly. I've also got some in car footage that I'll be processing along with the data logging results to go with it.... Stay tuned.

one lap later... damm he's getting closer... but I never let him get that close again

and the shocker... after two days of hard use my Carbotech XP10s looked like this:

Hey Doug, Great hanging out with you and Melanie... too bad she wasn't able to get a ride in my car
hehehe
Anyhow, it was awesome fun keeping up with you in the twisties, no wonder those pads are toast! More info-- how long did they last, just two days, I hope not!
My Spec VR's are so old I can't even remember how many days they have. At least 8-10 days, two of which were racing, two of which were racing school. They're really not long for this world though.

Great pics, I look forward to seeing the rest of them. Good meeting you again and great running w/ you on track.
You were so fast I have no trouble believing your pads look like that.
< Wondering what his pads look like.

Thanks again guys... It's a real shame that we have to wait an entire year to do this again. But on the other hand it gives me needed time to get some more of the driver rust off, shave some weight off the car, and hopefully do some head work this fall.
Chris F, the pads were bedded during an event prior to the expo but they were pretty much full width (keep in mind that I had to make up time where ever I could to keep the boosted cars in check
). The brake rotors are fine. I will have to machine them down before I throw on another set of pads. I feel pretty good about the pad performance; they worked flawlessly right to the end.
Ryan, I'll let you know about my Mosport plans this year. I definitely want to hit that track and would love to have you come out.

Great pictures and it was very cool meeting you/being on track with you. Glad you came.
ps. I saw you toting around that big L series so I know you've got more pictures coming.

Doug, did this happen to the pads for both front wheels? Or just one side? Scary!

This set came from the drivers side, the passengers side was also deflecting seriously but still had ~5% pad material left.
I think its time I start looking into up grading my brakes...

My brakes actually looked exactly the same!

Gee Doug - try GranSports. At least you can get them in Canada.
That's what I've been running all year.
(Thanks Carl - TRAC Racing!!)
I still have LOTS of pad left after a race weekend and the Expo. I'm expecting they'll get me through the whole season.
Cobalt VRs would do the trick too. 1 set per season for ~Expo + 4-5 HPDEs last year.

Chris,
WOW! Now I don't feel like I was too hard on mine
Jeff,
Was trying to find a set of VR's for the Expo but couldn't. I opted for the Carbotech pads which besides there short life worked great. I needed some more pads for some events coming up shortly so I went for Carbotech again, but this time I'll be using their new XP12 compound which they tell me should last longer (even they were amazed by the condition of my pads). If these die prematurely I'll give the GranSports a try. The new Cobalt compounds won’t be available until late summer
.
I feel terrible that I don't have any footage of you're car while I was chasing you. For some reason I didn't record my first session out on day one (likely because I thought I would be taking it easy on my first time out). There never was another time when we met at speed on the track... Sorry bud.
Regarding my brakes… can anyone tell me if removing my dust shields will have a noticeable effect on my brake temperatures? Or will I need to go all out and install ducts to have enough of an impact?

That (and fluid) were the first brake modification that I did.
Here are some photos that I took showing where you can cut the shield so that you can put them back in (if needed for bad weather).

Use vice grips or adjustable pliers to remove the 3 screws that hold the shield on.... and chop the piece off using a dremel.

I agree with Willard. Remove the splash shields at once.
I'll be on the XP12/XP10 combo next week, will let you know how they hold up
