Default clutch cable problem

I have a 90 civic hatch std with gsr swap. My Y1 tranny started to go out, so i found a ys1 tranny to replace it. I pulled my old tranny and put the new ys1 in the car, along with new clutch and flywheel. Everything is bolted up, but my clutch cable is too short and will not reach. I have looked and measure both transmissions from the cable bracket to the "shift fork" and there is no difference, that i can see.

Why would the cable reach the Y1 but no the YS1?
Has anyone ever had this problem before?
If so how did you solve it?

BTW i did a search and could not find this exact problem.

TIA

have you considered routing the clutch cable underneath the intake manifold? that may help some, but realistically its about the same tranny except for the gears as the y1 so it should fit fine unless you are doing something wrong somewhere...

I used a DA Integra clutch cable and it worked fine.

I thought the cases were the same on both transmissions, so thats why its not making any sence to me. I have the cable under the intake and it still will not reach.

it has something to do with the clutch/throw out bearing setup...you may have to force the cable lever up with a jack so the cable will go on...ive seen this happen on two different occasions for some reason...after the cable goes on they work normally...

also, did you unhook the cable from the strut tower so it can move more? that could help.

yeah its unhooked from the strut tower. The cable will reach the bracket on top of the transmission, but when it is in the bracket the end of the cable will not reach the clutch lever. I am about to go put a jack under it now.

THE DA CLUTCH CABLE IS ACTUALLY SHORTER. I MEASEURED AT A JUNK YARD WHEN I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I USED A BLOCK OF WOOD AND A JACK AND JACKED UP THE CLUTCH LEVER AND SLIPPED IN IN. OR YOU CAN UNBOLT THE MOUNT FOR THE CABLE ON THE TRANNY AND USE SOME MUSCLE TO GET THAT BACK ON. A COMMON PROBLEM THOUGH. I'VE HAD THAT PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES THOUGH. JUST USE SOME MUSCLE AND YOU BEST JUDGEMENT.
