Both are good swaps..if i had to choose i probably wouldnt be able to,,so i would just combine both motors together..AKA lsvtec

If you plan to turbo the motor, I would go with the B18. B18 turbo'd makes excellent power.

So does B16 turbo..If you have the exact same setup on both engines, same tuning and everything the B16 will make more peak power just because of the head..but the TQ will suck,,but what good is TQ anyway when all you do is spin the tires and dont go anywhere..?

I know what you mean... I had a crx with a B16 and a greddy single cam turbo setup on it that made 205 whp and 200 wtq. on 9 psi

What I would do is a LSVTEC turbo, assuming you have the money to build it right.

You need tq....PERIOD. That is why I would go with the B18 over the B16. Who cares about peak power. Its all about the balance of the usable power curve. As far as spinning the tires, that is where driving skill comes in. If you are just going to drive the car on the street then B16 or B18 will do. If you want to race then you'll need a ballanced hp/tq band that you can use.

we dont have RWD cars here..you dont want instant TQ,,all you'll do is roast the tires....you want gradual linear power...But this is just my opinion that im basing on actual experience.......

It takes skill to drive a FWD car that has power. Its not an overnight thing. It takes power and tq to win a real race, not a street race in the highway. If you want to circuit race, youll need a balance of low end tq and high end power.

so the b18 would be the better choice with a turbo setup

You are right,,like i said both are great motors the b16 will make more hp with the same setup though...this is true and proven and plainly obvious..im not gonna sit here and argue cause its pointless,,you cant go wrong with either motor
