si transmission question
how do u exactly know if u have an si trans? since all the trans.(88-91) are L3's and interchangable. but they're are numbers after the L3, mine is labeled L3 1196957, anyone know which one it is?, the reason i ask is because i have an 88 crx hf with si engine (d16a6) and tryin to see if it is also the si trans. please help.thx
If the transmission is off the car, open the case and start counting gear teeth. Or do this: http://www.norcalcrx.org/tyson...1.jpg (link from the FAQ sticky; thanks to Tyson)
If the transmission is on the car and it is driveable, you can easily tell which transmission you have by comparing the reading ratios of the speedometer and tachometer in 5th gear.

The individual gears all have the same ratios for DX and Si, but the Si final drive is much shorter (about 10%).
