hi, I use a 94 automatic dx bubble for a daily beater and all of a sudden while im driving it on the parkway it just cuts off...it turns over but won't re-start until i let it sit for a couple mins...the longer it sits the longer it runs and drives without stalling.

I thought it was my fuel pump because to start the car you have to tap the gas to keep it running. yesterday I ripped up the backseat and changed the fuel pump/strainer and the auto still stalls on me....

***RIGHT before it shuts off a check engine light pops and the car acts like i am not touching the gas pedal, but when you completely floor it the car moves like its at about 900 rpm and then after a couple seconds it stalls and you have to wait about 5 mins to drive it away normally....

ANY ideas people? anything will help at this point! Thanks alot!

 

you have to figure out whether it is spark or fuel related. if you are trying to start it, will it crank, but just not fire? i would cycle the key (turn it on, but not try to crank) and see if ou hear the fuel pump huimming. my guess given the info that it is the main fuel relay.

 

yea it cranks but wont fire at all for the first min. or 2... but then if u tap the gas it usually starts enough to drive another 1/2 a mile before it shuts off again

 

speaking of hearing a humming, i noticed a whistling sound yesterday while i was driving...very mellow almost unnoticable almost like a badly connected amplfier sound...any thoughts?

 

If it throws a CEL, retrieve the CEL. That's the whole point.

 

IM GETTIN A CODE 15 Ignition output signal.....what cud it be? remember the check engine light only comes on right before the car shuts off never while its driving only about 20 seconds before the car stalls....could it be my dizzy????

 

another thing you could try is bleed all the air out of your cooling system does your idle jump around 2

 

nahh not really....it runs perfect except it cuts off randomly after about 10 mins of driving and then it must sit for about 5 mins before you can drive it again (for a short distance)

yeah, fuel or ignition is what i'm thinking. that sh#$ kinda happened to me in my EG LX, it wouldn't stall but when i'd fire it up it would be really crapp and barely start, and i'd have to wait for who knows how long but once it did start, it would run fine, it turned out that my battery kept losing charge, but my buddy had similar crap like you in his nissan, then he changed the fuel filter and it was running perfectly. i think you should replace your fuel filter and spark plugs and any other routine maintenance item, that way if anything is still acting gay, you know its none of the things you did.
