Default honda temp guages

I have a curious question? Are Honda Accords temp guage dampered. I am wondering because my temp guage always sits in the same spot after warm up. I can hear the fans come on and off but the guage is in the same spot. I have another car and i can see the temp guage make minimal movements. It would sit a little below 1/2 but when it sits 1/2 the fans would turn on. i know there is nothing wrong with my cooling system i am just curious on how Honda intended the temp guage to indicate. Thanks BTW it is a 1997 honda accord the guage sits about 1/4 to 1/3 during normal operating temps.

Some are and some arent.
But as long as the gauge operates corectally your good.
Also you have to remember the small engines honda has. Honda designs them so that there won't be a big fluxuation in temprature. Just means the syetem is efficent.

Mine moves noticeably when idling (AC turned off). The fan switches are generally set somewhere hotter than the thermostat, so the fan doesn't make a nuiscance of itself by cycling all the time. Normally temperature runs below 50% on the gauge, but idling it goes above 50% before the fans come on.

Turn off the AC when you check this, because it will run the fans based on evaporator temperature. You want to see when the fan switches trigger...

in general honda temp gauges do not move with slight fluctuation, by the time the civic gauge hits the red the coolant is probably at 230 degree F.
between 155 and 200 though the stock gauge is probably not moving at all.

yes, with aftermarket guages installed before, ive seen fluctuations of +60 degrees in coolant temp with no movement from stock temp needle...
