Almost got my GSR wheels stolen last night :(
DAMN THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep reading bad stories lately on the forum about thieves and low and behold, soon after I get my big suspension upgrade, somebody tried to swipe my '98 GSR rims (fitted with spanking new Toyo T1-S) in my damn driveway at 5:30am yesterday morning....here's how it happened:
At first I did not know anything about this until last night (almost 12 hours later). What happened is that my clifford alarm went off in my driveway about 5:30am that morning and I rushed out from bed and took a look at car and didn't see anything wrong or suspicious (looking at it through the house window). I thought it was a cat or something so I went back to bed.
Last night I had to go back to my performance shop where I had my new suspension installed because my sway bar was squeaking a little with the rubber bushings so we had to add some silicon grease...anyways..while we were doing this the car was jacked up on a lift and decided to waste time cleaning my rims...well...$hit!...as soon as I start cleaning one rim I noticed the lock nut was MISSING! then I check the second tire (both on the passanger side) and that lock nut was also missing....damn...how the hell did the guy take these off!!!! I didn't notice any forced entry or scratches..somebody has tools to take these off!!!!!!!!!
now I don't know what brand these lock nuts are because I got them when I bought my car back in 98. The guy in the shop is ordering me McGard Lock Nuts and I will install 2 damn lock nuts per tire.
These guys have ***** to do this in my driveway...I just added 2 motion light sensors with 250 watt halogen lights and will also add a driveway alert system that detects motion and lets me know inside the house. I also just had a boomerang2 system installed (similar to lojak but better - the center tracks the car as soon as its stolen even if I'm not aware of the theft) http://www.boomerangtracking.com
but all in all, this sucks man..costing me a fortune..sure if they want the car somebody can find a way but now its going to be damn hard to do so with all these layers of security. It seems that these jerks want to play tough well I can play the same game too
Thieves are just a bunch of losers who can't afford what you have and are jealous of what you got.

ONE, I am glad that they were unsuccessful in the theiving.
TWO, I am glad you posted this, I think that I will be installing the items you mentioned as an added layer of security for myself.

Not 2 weeks after I got my wheel locks from Acura last summer, I got up one morning and drove around the corner to wash my car at the coin-op place. Well when I was drying the car I noticed my right rear wheel had ONE lug holding it on -- the lock! Looks like somebody tried to jack the wheels. Luckily I had 4 extra nuts from installing the locks. About a week later someone attempted to break in, I assume the same person(s) as tried to get my wheels, probably looking for the key. Amateurs, did not get in but pried out my door handle halfway and messed up the metal, and busted the trunk lock. Just barely over $500 damage ($500 deductible
).
).
Yeah..I'm from Toronto and I think Boomerang2 is only available in Canada although they did tell me that it works across North America all the way to the Mexican borders...you might want to call them..it is currently the best system on the market to get your car back. If the transponder unit that is attached on my keychain not in the car then, as soon as the car measures any speed/movement velocity (stolen or being towed), the center knows immediately and the boomerang team dispatches their units to track the car while calling the cops...a swat team of sorts...24hours/day 7 days/week service...
its a good piece of mind while being a very bad move for the thief

thieves are catchin on these days... they always have a way of gettin into things. get yourself an autoloc while youre at it. thats good nothing was stolen.
That sucks man. Lucky you still have your rims. those locks wont help that much but they do take a little longer to take off which is good. If you get a lock remover set for like $100.00 you can pretty much remove any of those locking lugs. Kind of sucks that they sell that stuff to the public. Also you can jack a car up without setting off the alarm. I have tested it on my car and it wont go off if I go slow. kind of sucks cause if I set the alarm to be more sensitive it will be going off all the time.
