Default Are Lexus brakes similar to Honda brakes?

I will be changing front brake pads on a 2003 Lexus IS 300 for a friend. Is the process the same as changing pads for a Honda Civic? I've called around and shops are quoting ridiculous prices. Their reasoning is that because it is a Lexus. I think they are just giving me a bunch of BS. I am going to do it myself. I was just curious if there was anything special about them as opposed to Honda brakes before I dig into it. Thanks in advance.

how much do they want to charge you, im curious. Its basically the same process. If yo have done it before, trust me once you look at the caliper and stuff yo uwill be fine. Tell them its just a Toyota maybe it will be cheaper

If you are capable of doing a brake job on your car you should be able to do it on most other cars.

Jack up one corner of your friends car, take off the wheel and take a look at the brake system.
They may look a little different but all of the same parts will be there.

Cool. That's all I wanted to hear. I have done a brake job on my car numerous times, but I have never done one on a Lexus. I just wanted to make sure that a Lexus didn't require a specific tool that is used only for a Lexus or anything like that. Thanks for the replies.

They wanted like over $100 just for labor. Being that I've changed brakes on my Honda numerous times, I don't even think that it is a $20 job being that it is only the front brakes.

It's not rocket science you should be able to handle it.

Just make you you remember how to put it back together.
