Who runs Hub Rings on their aftermarket wheels?
How many people use hubcentric rings on their aftermarket wheels? i know most aftermarkets have a larger center bore to fit different cars so I was just wondering how necessary they really are? If you aren't using hub rings, do u notice a lot of vibration in the steering wheel at highway speed?
You shouldn't notice vibration as long as you properly center your wheels when tightening. I did have hub centric rings on my Rotas but took them off when I got my spacers. No vibration either way.
^how would u go about doing this? i notice when the car is lifted up, there is some play even when the aftermarket wheel is placed on the studs. the wheel sits flush against the hub but u can still slide it around on the studs.
I just had Konig wheels put on my civic and needed these. They were $10 each at the tire shop and I was told that if I didn't have them put on my car would shake and shimmy on down the road.

the wheels are going to be lug centric so if you center the wheel nuts first by tightening by hand (jiggle the wheel up, down, left right until you can't tighten anymore by hand) before fully tightening they will be centered. Tighten the wheel nuts with the wheel in the air or at least get them as tight as you can before dropping the car.

I have aftermarket wheels on my MDX as well as my Grand Prix and both are 5x114.3 lug pattern and have no issues with vibration and mount completely on the hub.
the Grand Prix, i thought would be the one that would need them because the factory lug pattern is 5x115mm and I am running 5x114.3. A lot of people say that I need them but I have not had an issue with either vehicles.

They are not necessary for wheels with conical (tapered) lug seats, which are the majority of aftermarket wheels. With the conical lug seats, it is pretty much impossible to install the wheel off-center if you're using the proper lug nuts, whether it is hubcentric or not.
I have never used hubcentric rings with my Rota wheels and have never had a vibration problem - and they are on my track car so they are constantly being removed and re-installed.

Only thing is the Centric ring requirement is a opinion not a requirement. If you think you need them then buy them, if the wheel rides good the way it is then don't waste the money. After install it would be a short ride down the road to figure out if it needs them or not.

I am now riding with Gorilla hub-centric rings. The difference is night and day from my old setup. While my old rims were a little bent, the fact that they weren't centered still made a big difference.
On one hand, my ride is much better now, and it would have been nice to have this quality all along, but on the other, driving with lots of vibration honed my driving skill.
