Hello,

When I start my car and pop the hood the engine makes a fairly loud noise. I am not sure if that is normal or not? Please let me know. In addition when the A/C is on it also makes a slight noise under the engine.

What type of noise, If it is a ticking noise, that is a common, "non-issue" noise. Just the engine moving inside. If Im not mistaken, all Hondas, and alot more cars have that noise.

If it sounds like a muffled hissing noise, nothing to worry about there either. But if not, then describe the noise a little better to help to try and guess what it is.

 

maybe i've gone crazy but when i start up it seems bit loud - like voom voom and kinda smells smokey.almost when u listen like voom voom type alarm sound..i unno

 

Sounds like the A/C noise is probably just the compressor clicking in then operating the system.

 

so when all you guys start up in makes a semi loud noise? its even louder underneath with the a/c on....i hope everything is ok

 

Must admit, when i start up there's nothing like the loud noise you describe. Its not your fan stuck on permanently is it? My friends motor had a sticking switch and his cooling fan ran permanently.

The A/C compressor does make a noise. It has a clutch that switches the pulley in to operate the compressor, creating extra load on your engine as well as the noise of the comp itself.
