My B16A3, when cold, has erratic idle and sometimes sputters because one of the cylinders is not firing, but only when cold. It also occurs at random (not only between 2000rpm and 3000 rpm)

Parts i looked at/cleaned

1-Distributor cap and rotors--->Used a dremel to resurface the contact surfaces
2-Wires are all the way in (all 4)
3-Plugs are good---------------->cleaned up some carbon buildup
4-Will clean out the IACV tomorrow (10pm right now)

Anything else i could do before i start replacing parts? Thank you for the help!

I was having the same problem with my EM1 before it got as warm as it is. I would have to let it completly warm up before it would idle smooth. It is much warmer now and I'm not having this problem anymore. But the code I got was P1381 Cylinder Position (CYP) Sensor Intermittent Interruption which has something to do with a bad sensor in the dizzy. So now I have to get a new dizzy and that's probably whats going on with your car.

And there has been no apparent damage to my car so far.

 

do you know the name of the sensor in the dizzy? Mine is OBD-1, i am unsure if mine has that.
