My friend in his 1.8T Passat went up against a S2000 tonight. All the Passat has is an air filter, exhuast, and APR chip. Does pretty freaking well for a 4 door family sedan. Race was on the highway and they had a 12.0 sec Z28 about a 1/4mi ahead to make sure the road was clean. It's on our site at the top of the page with more description http://www.patrickrice.com/phoenixedge/

LOLOL.. If thats all the Passat has done to it your site and the video is pathetic.. this isnt the normal user of this name.. i have an s2000.. that guy never shifted higher than 5k RPM... lol rediculous site.. where are you guys located?? lets set up a real race for a few hundred and post that video on the site.. f*ckin pathetic
That is so lame, the S2000 wasn't even trying, i don't even think the S2000 hit VTEC. The guy driving the S must not have known to shift at 9k..oh well...according to Motortrend, the S2000 does a 1/4 at 13.8 stock... that Passat or Jetta thing needs to lose a couple hundred pounds and make some serious power to even get close to a stock S2000.....
Sorry fellas, after reading the bullshit you 2 guys just posted I had to register and get rid of your stupid assumptions.......a little detail about my "Passat", my mods are APR chip, TT exhaust, air filter, and gutted cat. To the untrained eye, that looks like a total of about 10hp correct? WRONG. My car is turbocharged, from the factory it makes 170hp at 8psi.....the APR chip bumps my car up to 17psi and I gain about 50hp and 100lb/ft of torque, you may go to http://www.goapr.com to see for yourself for all you doubters.......so now I am at 220hp and 260lb/ft of torque.....my best 1/4 mile to date is a 14.649@94.87mph with a best trap of 95.35mph.......my 1/4 mile sucks because I can't manage anything better than a 2.242 60'. Now my car weighs about 3150lbs from the factory, I remove rear seats and spare tire to save about 55lbs or so, my seats weigh nothing. Okay, now that you know about my car, on to the S2k..........this video is not some video where I just ran into a S2k on the highway and just happened to get it on video.....it was A PLANNED RACE. I am friends with the owner of the S2k son, his dad to his RSX to Atlanta so his son was left with the S2k.........we decided it would be cool to see how well I did, the runs were done with a pace car in front of us and we were communicating with walky talkies.........the runs were started at 65mph. Now, let me ask you this, we both had intentions of kicking each others ***, your telling me that he was shifting before Vtec just to play with me.........LMAO, sorry to break your hearts fellas, we did 6 runs with the outcome exactly the same. If you would like, we can put the camera man in his car and you can see his tach wind out. Facts are facts, don't be mad that my little VW "Passat" could keep up with your" Race" machine in a straight line. I have always respected S2k, they will kick my *** ANY day on anything that happens to turn.......I just so happen to hang decently with them going straight. I am not here to start a flame war, but my buddy was going ALL OUT in his car and he was also shifting fast for those that think shifting fast is hard. I just came to maybe clear up some of the confusion over my mods and to clear some BS that is being tossed around. Later
My friend has a 2000 1.8t passat with your setup but it's the auto. All i can say about that car is it is hella torguey. He did suspension mods too and the car is nice on the turns. Nothing like the ITR but can't really compare a coupe to a sedan.

1.8T HAHAH, You need to race someone that can drive a S2000. Sorry to shoot down your ego boost but i can promise you that your car can't hang. You say that you ran a 14.6 with all the mods you listed. The s2000 is capable of 13.8 or better and or worse. Just dont think you can spank or hang as well as you did with every s2000. If you want to race another S2000, we can arrange that....

You guys don't know how fast his car really is, don't sit there and reply when you have no experience with chipped 1.8t's.......go to http://www.vwvortex.com the fastest chipped 1.8t is 13.5@102mph, all he has is chip, intake, and exhaust....bet your surprised now. My friend 1/4 mile time is limited by traction, not power.

Ok this is actually me (ActiveAero). The race was a planned race for one. You can even hear the S2K give the honks in the second race. We also made sure to start the S2000 in VTEC and yes he took it up to 9,000rpms. I don't know what the big deal is, the S2000 did win the race it just took him longer than expected. The Passat is extremely torquey and was in the very meat of its powerband. Even when the S2000 got the intial jump the Passat was still able to pull him at the beginning. The S2000 with its superior top end eventually came by as expected. I know it sounds weird from his 1/4mi and trap speeds but his Passat does extremely well from no momentum high speed roll ons. In fact from those speeds he has pulled on stock S4's (raced it several times because it is one of his friends). No trying to start anything, but that is what happened and he would do the same to any S2000 from those speeds. It doesn't take much of a driver to floor it in VTEC. Just trying to clear things up. Thanks.

Maybe your point here is to proof a family sedan can beat a 32,000 car. But racing a force induction car vs. a all motor car. and modified car vs. a stock car. Does not proof any point to me. If you are down to see what a forced induction s2 can do to a lil passat. I will go out of my way to make a video for you.
BTW, I'm only doing 8lbs of boost on my S. And you are running 17 right?

Stock VS Modified...and the stock still wins..you know what that means to me? you need to modify it more just to keep up or beat a STOCK S2000... sorry, but it was not impressive at all

Thanks again for being ignorant little ******s, keep it up.
I love people that assume stuff before they know what they are talking about. Makes you sound real smart and mature. I mean how dare I show an S2000 BEATING another car....what was I thinking
I'll be sure to get a vid of one losing to me in my ITR some time, maybe you would like that better. Thanks again for your time. You guys are the coolest.
Sorry if I hurt your feelings..it was a nice video..but you are right..i was being ignorant...I will try to be more open minded next time. I will show more
in my future posts.

I was being generous to the s2k guys about 2 weeks ago their were z28's at 17,999 including the 2002 rebate from gm! Suposedly there were 50 cars in the morning and by the time one of my friends got there to look at some they had 4 cars left. Finding a ls1 for around 21k is not that big of a deal
Some of you guys are still missing the point.......I drive a 4 door family sedan, I weigh about 3150lbs and can carry 5 people very easily. That is why I am proud of keeping up with an S2000, I am heavier and much bigger.
