Default New to Civic's and the site. What do you think?

Well as you can tell by the handle, this is the project, but not yet built. I live in Canada, and have always driven north American cars. I bought a Honda last year it is an eg with D15 (still has it) to replace the '91 GMC Seirra daily driver with a modified 5.7 L (380 hp, 340 ft/lbs) engine after gas prices went to $1.20 a liter, thats $4.80 a gallon (give or take) for you yanks (no offence intended I am Canadian after all). So, a Honda only made sense cheap on gas lots of stock parts availible and even more aftermarket stuff (I equate the now '90's - '00's civic movement to the then American Muscle car movement of the '60's and '70's). The guy I bought my civic from had done some minor work like coil-overs, exhaust and I believe some either JDM or SI repalcement equipment like seats.

After reading how easy (and cheap) it is to upgrade the basic car I got hooked. Now I have a H22 w/LSD in the garage and just waiting on parts for install. I've considered several options, but not up for the challenge of stuff like resleveing for a turbo, but may consider a NO2 kit. I've got a new stock interior for it, and plan on getting a mild (if there is such a thing) body kit. I want it to look pretty stock still, for those times on the highway when the rustang goes flying by, thinking he's hot ****, and then this '95 stock looking civic blows him away.

Anyway I guess the reason for this post is two fold i) what do you think? is a turbo possible without H22 engine mods, or should I be happy with the 200 hp ii) is there someone out there with the same goals (stock as possible) in a car as I do that would share there experiences part types, etc. with me.

Thanks in advance for reading and replying.

you should be happy with the 200hp h22, a turbo h22 isnt the most reliable, imo, and it sounds like you want this to be a daily driver, correct? its certainly possible to turbo the h22 with no mods though if thats what you want. and 4.80 a gallon sucks! makes the 3.20 or so where i live seem like a good price.

Thanks for the reply. What mild mods can be done to the H22, I know the obvious air intake, exhaust, chip. But, how easy or difficult is a cam replacement, what benifits do you recieve with a new intake, new injectors, heads, etc.

Thanks Again.

And as far as pics go I'll try to get some, but really its not all that nice to look at right now, being in central Ontario, and having snow on the ground at least 4 months of the year (like 4 feet of snow), and of course where there is snow on the roads there is salt, really does bad things to a car. So, its a little rusty and until the interior gets done I'm not too proud of it. But, I'll keep you updated with pics during the build.

i thought you wanted better gas mileage? i'd stick with a stock h22 imo. you'll keep the honda reliability, as well as respectable gas mileage. 200hp in a little eg should keep you happy. just my opinion, good luck.

I'd go against turboing the h22 myself. but that's just me. As for mild mods, an intake, header and custom mandrel exhaust shouldn't set you back more than 750-800(US) all together and give a nice improvement. As for chipping it, see if you can find a local tuner and get it tuned rather than chipped(more $$$ but definately something to check into and IMO very well worth it). As for a mild body kit, you may want to look into like the front and rear lips(just make sure to get urethane, ABS and fiberglass both crack fairly easily). Sounds like you've got a nice start so far. when you get pics be sure to put them in the appearance/cosmetics forum.

Stick with the stock H22 for a daily driver. If you feel the need for more power later, you'll still have the option. IMO, 200hp in an EG should be a really fun daily driver.

Swap the h22, then when it starts too seem slow, then modify it.
