stock 01 Civic EX

My girlfriend has a problem with her car. Every other time she tries to start it, it cranks but doesn't turn over. It's almost like the fuel pump isn't coming on. After a couple of tries, it starts like nothing was wrong. Most of the time there's no problem.

Her spark plugs were old, I replaced them with NGKs. Her air filter was clogged, I replaced it with an AEM short ram. I took her starter and battery and had them tested. I tested her alternator and it's charging fine. I know that the fuel filter is on the pump itself (PITA), and that it's distributer-less ignition, so... I'm kind of out of maintenance parts to check.

I suspect her fuel pump relay. Do you guys with the newer Civics have this problem? I'm tempted to put a light on her fuel pump power wire so she can tell me if it's not coming on when the problem occurs.

 

manual or auto. the tune up was probably needed. whens the oil been changed...is her gas tank low when you try to start it. next time, click it in the "on" position for like 5 seconds, then try to start it. its probably the pump.

 

It's manual. I change her oil and filter every 5k. It happens all the time, gas tank low or full.

Not new to maintenance. Just wondering if the fuel pump relay going out is a common problem. Probably not.

Anyone ever had a coilpack go out?

 

Well, rule out everything else before you go buying a $52 coilpack.
