Default Anyone here dealt with Rocket Motorsports before?

Okay so here is the situation, my car is currently in the process of having a new motor built and put into it. All of the parts are at the shop except the Cams and the Chip for the ECU, its been a couple months and still nothing, I guess they are having some issues... have any of you guys dealt with rocket motorsports? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

BTW... I'm not saying anything bad about RocketMotorsports whatsoever... just wondering so long...

It always sucks when it takes longer than you want.

Are you dealing with RM directly or with another seller of their products? Were you given an estimate on the time?

We have had two of his intake cams break on us we are on our third right now.
One the engine never got a chance to start it broke when it got torqued down in the motor, the second lived for a couple of weeks before it left the owner on the side of the road. We bought a third a it did not stay in the motor long before we installed some Skunk 2 stage three cams and have never had a problem since.
" now this is just my experience with rocket i am not trying to convince any one of any thing i just had problems with his product."

Just being honest.... Two in a row scared me too..
I put in a straight cut blank a piece of round stock cut to the bearing size just to see if the head was not the problem. Nope the cam just broke at a cast mark.

Also a shop is doin the build for me, the guys at Suja1, actually I was on my way down there with Andrew (used to be CONE) we were just going to take off the teins and put my stock suspension back on... and BAM the motor blew on the way down, so now they are building a motor for me haha

I wouldnt use RM valve springs either. They have destroyed 2 exhaust cams(1 stg1 Skunk and 1 OEM GSR) and 6 vtec rocker arms (2 had just been replaced) on the exhaust side.

We were dealing with Rocket, and we had some communication issues. I guess he has been very busy with filling orders. Customer service could use a little work.

I was talking with Aquafina about this in person at Expo on Sunday, he said he would talk to them, but it seems like its a moot point.

As far as the above mentioned things in this thread, it sounds like there are way too many variables to say whether cams were at fault. But like Rene said, that was just his experience.

Chris, its good to see you'll finally get your car back on the road (and out of our shop!!!)

They use a core casting that is real rough this is " in my opinion" the root problem with them. Way to many stress risers for something under that kind of a load.. I showed the cams to a buddy that does metallurgy at South West Research and he came to the same conclusion. Look at a stock cam then a Skunk 2 then at his and its a night and day difference. All i can say is good luck and i hope you have better results than us.

Interesting stuff Rene. My own personal experience is that I used his valve srings and retainers on a boosted engine that made 500whp. No problems there. No problems when I pulled everything and went N/A.

I've been using his M24X cams for three months now, with no issues. Knocking on wood though

This motor pulled 227 hp at 8k all Na . when they worked and were not broke they worked well. but the car did come home on a trailer twice because of those cams its only a wonder that it has not bent a valve when they broke..
