Ok guys, I just finished throwing my Z6 head on my B7 bottom and plugged everything back in etc. And the car wont start for ****. I made sure my timing was perfect and everything. I did a compression test and came up with 0 across the board. Anyone know why the hell this is happening? Its not making any sense to me. Also can anyone show me how to make sure the head is correctly timed? Where is the mark on this? I just used a haynes manual and went off of what theres looked like. ANY HELP!?! Thanks!

we have tried now two different compression testers.. and both still read 0 compression..
different spark plugs, and spark plug wires.. the car cranks, but theres no ignite..
any ideas?
thanks

are the wires in the right firing order. the haynes manual was wrong on the firing order, i had to switch two wires i think 3 and 4. also will the car start if you gas it all the way? if it does and runs like **** try unplugging some spark plug wires, the ones that done effect he engine switch. no idea if this is the prob but the exact same thing happened to me, give it a try and dont trust haynes firing order!

Ok, well how much compression should I have with a motor with 133K? Also do you think the compression is so low because I didn't use a Z6 headgasket? I used a non vtec one and had to trim around farthest 2 bolt holes to make it fit... Also can you use a B7 distributor? or does it have to be a Z6 or Y8? If so how do I do this?
uh oh. ur sposed to use the y8 HG.

maybe im just a retard but i checked that manual 8 times, and they say its a simple clockwise roatation from 1 to 4 starting at th bottom but on my car they were mixed up, so either my car is wacked out (very pssible) or haynes sucks for firing orders

Im cranking it for about 10 seconds or a little more. It bumps up to 90 and just chills there... Also only reason I used a non vtec head gasket is because one of my friends had a new one just layin around and I called everywhere in my city including honda and every place had to order one... So it looks like tomarrow Im going to call and order one. Also the reason my compression went from 0 to 90 was because my valves were staying open. Anyone know the spec for this? Like what feeler gauge I should be using to make sure these are closed correctly? They could be slightly open and thats why I only have 90... Thanks for the help though guys, I really appreciate it.

OK guys, I just went out and redid another compression test with a wideopen throttle, and my numbers changed. Its like from cyl 1 to 4 the compression gets better.
1 = 40
2 = 50
3 = 70
4 = 110
Any ideas what this could be? Im REALLY leaning towards the headgasket now...
Also does anyone have an answer for me about the B7 distrubitor on the Z6 head?

you need the Z6 dizzi because the bolt location and timing is different.
check your valves ajustement, 0.088 for the intake and .010 for the ex.
and the timing belt install differently on Z6 (not the 2 horizontal mark but the one on the lower left of the cam pulley)
have good luck

Ok guys, I went out today and tracked down a Z6 head gasket. It is a metal 3 layer gasket. Great quailty comparred to the ceramic POS one that I used on the motor before. So Im pretty sure this is going to help out the compression a good deal. I'll be back with updates and a new compression test with the ECU fuse unplugged...
Im still looking for a Z6 distrubitor locally.

OK, so I cleaned everything up REAL nice and put the new headgasket on and torqued it down tonight... I still have to plug everything up and set my timing. Can anyone tell me where to point the the TDC mark on the camshaft to set the timing on the cam? I have heard many places that you match it up to the mark on the back of the cover... but I have searched that cover up and down and can't find a freakin mark. Any help? possibly pics?? New update tomarrow!
Don't know why anyone would mention the distributor, it has nothing to do with your compression. I'll put my money on bent valves. You should have check the valves when you took the head off when changing your head gasket.
