Ideal wheel size on 6th gen 98 4 cyl
Hi, This is my first topic. I want to replace the wheels on my 1998 honda accord lx 4 cyl. I think the lug pattern is 4x114.3. The reason I want to replace them is that i recently bought the car, and when i got it one of the wheels is dented and when getting up to a speed of 60 the car starts to vibrate, My debate is what size the wheels should be and what would look good. I was thinking about ordering 17" wheels, but could i go bigger and get 18" without much of an effect on the suspension and the ride comfort?
-Thanks Paul

It seems that if it is the vibration over 60mph that is bothering you, and the tires were stock, i would first replace those first and work from the ground up. Tires, believe it or not, may be the simple solution.

The last owner let his wife drive it for about 2 weeks, I guess she ran into the curb parallel parking because, the wheel cover is now pinched in on one of the wheels and it is apparent it is dented.

17x7 with 215 45 17 tires, little bit taller than stock but the ride should be smooth and comfy.
make sure you do an alignment too, it's far easier to say only the wheels are dented than bented control arm and busted ball joint, if you know what i mean

Don't go bigger than stock unless you plan to drop it. Your car will look much higher and it won't look right. With a good drop 17's will look good, 18's will look great. I'd go for 17's personally because of weight.

paul i have had all sizes on a accord 99 and 98 ...i feel the best size was the 18, looked great, plus still a comfort type ride..19 hit kinda hard and 17 were a little small, but if you really want to make some speed out of the car 17 with the previous tire sized mention would be the best choice....i went from 19 to 18....
I have a 01 EX sedan, and I've put 18" wheels without lowering it. It actually didn't look that bad and the ride comfort was still stock due to the stock suspension. There was a slight gap still despite my tires being 225-40-18. It's up to you and what you're looking for.

It should look better lowered, otherwise it'll be a 4x4.

I saw one yesterday that wasnt lowered and it didnt look that bad, but I will lower it when I get more money. Also, if they are the same diameter as the stocks, then it should look the same.
