Car won't start. 'Clicking' sound in starter when turning over
Last night I pulled into a 7-11 and turned the car off, grabbed some smokes and came back outside. Tried to start the car, and nothing. I have current, and there is a clicking sound coming from the starter....bad solenoid/dead starter? Car was running absolutely fine until this.
I am 99% sure that it is the starter although some verification would be appreciated. The starter is possibly OEM, however, I am not sure if it has been replaced or not. I went through the paperwork I got from the guy who had the car before me and it does not appear that it was ever replaced.
Any ideas?

Wow, yea check your terminals my other 92 would do that (I guess from age) and I ended up buying a new positive cable and it never did it again.
I have the same problem right now i Check ground and positive cables they seem ok but i think starter is shot
Battery is brand new (2 days old)....
Ok, so I took the starter off and took it to the auto parts store and had them do a check and it is still good and strong.....so I went back to the car and checked all the fuses and ground wires and saw that the ground from the side of the strut mount to the motor mount was good and loose....
I was able to tighten down the bolt and re-shape the wire so that it had good continuity....
Car runs like a champ once again.

Yeah double and triple check your grounds....even if you think are secure check 'em again. all I ended up with was a loose wire....

Generally speaking, your prelude isn't supposed to catch fire when you start it...
Ok first...does it get hot just when you try and start it or is it whenever the key is on? What is this "plastic thing" exactly that is getting hot. Obviously it's seeing too much current. The short is most likely upstream of it.
